This five-day intensive invites you into an experiential exploration of the human psyche as an expression of the living patterns, creative forces, and inherent wisdom of nature. Drawing on the Nature-Based Map of the Human Psyche developed by Bill Plotkin and presented in his book Wild Mind: A Field Guide to the Human Psyche, this program is a variation of the Animas Valley Institute’s Wild Mind Intensive.*
The map offers a fresh perspective from mainstream psychology’s focus on psychological disorders and dysfunction. Rather than concentrating primarily on what can go wrong in the human psyche, it illuminates the remarkable capacities, potentials, and resources that become available as we grow into our innate human wholeness. This program offers the same core framework and experiential depth as the Animas Valley Institute’s Wild Mind Intensive.
Our wild minds possess astonishing resources, untapped potentials and depths that we might not even know exist until we discover how to access them, cultivate their powers, and eventually integrate them into our everyday lives. In this intensive, we’ll access these depths and potentials — which we call the four facets of the Self, or the four dimensions of our innate human wholeness — and also the four sets of fragmented or wounded subpersonalities that form during childhood.
Rather than attempt to eliminate our subpersonalities (which is not possible) or to beat them into submission, we’ll cultivate the four facets of the Self and uncover the gifts of our subpersonalities. Our goal is to fully embody our multifaceted wild minds, commit ourselves to the largest, soul-infused story we’re capable of living, and serve the greater Earth community.
In this intensive, you’ll explore:
The four facets of the Self: How to recognise, access, and cultivate the essential dimensions of your innate human wholeness.
Understanding your inner protectors: How to recognise the inner patterns formed in childhood and adolescence to help you adapt to the challenges of family and social life, but may now limit your authentic expression
The relationship between Self and inner protectors: Practices for developing greater understanding and cooperation between the Self and your inner protectors, supporting their healing, revealing their gifts, and fostering Self-actualisation
The journey of soul: How the four facets of the Self provide essential resources for the underworld journey—the descent into the depths of the psyche that can transform our sense of identity and open us to a more soul-centred life
Your place in the larger world: How becoming more fully yourself can help you participate in the ongoing evolution of human culture and contribute your unique gifts to the wider community of life
